Palette: Codes and Variables

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

As the painter uses its color palette to create a portrait, the RAP+ uses its code palette to generate a psychological report. The default RAP palette codes, variables, and demographics are based on Exner’s Comprehensive System. In addition to calculating the standard RAP variables, the program coding engine also tallies each My-Palette code frequency across the protocol. You can use the entire code palette to write interpretation hypotheses, produce a narrative report, or export the results for further analysis.

With the RAP+ you can mix and match palette variables, combine them with logical and arithmetic operators, and write an if condition. When an if condition expression is tested to be true for the values passed from the selected protocol, the report prints its associated narrative statement. In addition, with the My-Palette codes, you can research and explore new emerging coding systems. You can download the data for further statistical analysis or import/export codes in collaboration with other researchers.

To access the palette, click on the Palette menu or select it on the RAP+ start page. There are three main palette tables: RAP Palette, My-Palette, and Compact Palette.
